Movie Review: Kingsglave: Final Fantasy XV

Movie Review: "Kingsglave: Final Fantasy XV"

by Wilson Kosasih

First of all, when Square Enix announced this movie as a prequel to it's game, i was so happy. And when i get a look of it's trailer, damn, it sure looks good, and i can't wait to see the movie.

As i said earlier, this movie is a prequel, so the war between Lucis and Niflheim is still going, but King Regis (voiced by Sean Bean) is on his way on losing his kingdom and tries to do a peace treaty with Nilfheim. But it doesn't go well as he thinks, when Nilfheim tries to take over Insomnia with force. Kingsglave (kind of like President's Secret Service) is ordered to protect Insomnia from harm. And one of them is Nyx Ulric (voice by Aaron Paul).

The story, for a fan like me, seems make a lot of sense. Since i've been following it's game, movie, and anime at the same time, So, i'm pretty much good for the story. But, when i watched this with my friend, who didn't know a thing about this movie, he seemed pretty confused and he thought that this movie's confusing. However, with those beautiful scenes for almost 2 hours, i'm pretty satisfied with this movie. Although, some action scenes seem to fast for my eyes to keep up and it made me real dizzy.

Graphics are beautiful, but it made me more like i was watching a montage of game's cutscenes and was forced into a movie. The plot is confusing (for a non-fan), battles are hard to keep up, but motion captures are extremely good in this movie. Some good things maybe are the summons, which some of them are new to me and none of their names are mentioned in the movie.

Overall, this movie is a must for gamers out there who want to play the game. But, for a non-fan, maybe this movie is too hard to keep up and it feels too confusing. This movie is not that good, but at least it's better than Final Fantasy:  Spirits Within. And i would rate this movie a "Beautiful Mess" because of it's confusing story but with amazing visuals. Don't go just yet after the movie ends, because there will be extra scenes at the end.

As always, thanks for your support! Feel free to comment and stay tuned for another reviews!
