Anime Review: "Digimon Adventure Tri part 1"

Anime Review: "Digimon Adventure Tri"

by Wilson Kosasih

I actually watched the movie last week, but there's so much going on with school and i don't have time to review it right away. But, no worries guys, i'm going to review this now!
As you can see, i'm reviewing the part 1 of 6 parts of the movie. So, without further a due, let's review this!

Story sets on 2005, two years after "Digimon Adventure 2". Taichi Yagami and the guys from the first series are now on high school. Everything's is fine, until there are strange occurrences happening in town. Moments later, a Kuwagamon that had been causing the malfunctions suddenly appears and Taichi tries to chase it until he is cornered. Suddenly out of nowhere, his Digivice shines Agumon appears to help him. The same thing happened to his friends and with their help, Taichi tries to beat Kuwagamon and save the town.

The first time it was announced, i was so excited that my favorite childhood anime will get another sequel, and they are actually growing up, not like the guy from Pokemon (I'm talking about you Ash). Story is understandably boring, it's not bad but the author tries to bring those nostalgic feels back, but it's not working in my opinion. Sure it feels nostalgic to see Agumon fights side by side with Taichi, but i wish the story is better than this.

Next thing is the artwork, man after those years, it could be better than this. Characters just look alike, no variation, no emotion, man it's dull. As a fan, i am disappointed. i don't know if they are just lazy or what, but they sure disappoint those hardcore fans.

As you can see from the picture, there's no variation at all. Just look at the face, it has the same shape, same nose, and mouth. Those animators are just lazy, the only differences are eye's colors and the hair.

1999 and 2015 comparison

Overall, for you hardcore fans who have been waiting forever for another sequel, you have to watch this. It feels a little bit nostalgic and other than those weaknesses i mentioned, this anime is still bearable to watch. Part 2 coming around March 2015.

As always, thanks for your support! Feel free to comment and stay tuned for another reviews!
