Movie Review: "Spectre"

       Movie Review: "Spectre"

by Wilson Kosasih

24th Bond movie, Spectre, premiered 6 November 2015 in United States. Daniel Craig is back for another Bond film with a new villain played by Cristoph Waltz. This movie has been Bond's highest budget movie made yet with $250-$300 million! But will it be as good as previous films? Let's find out!

Story continues from Skyfall (2012), Bond (Daniel Craig) was ordered by the previous M to go to Mexico and kill Marco Sciarra. Results in the destruction on some part of Mexico. From that mission, Bond then returns to London, but M (Ralph Fiennes) thinks Bond is reckless and suspends Bond. Another problem shows up when C or Max (Andrew Scott) tries to do a merger MI5 and MI6 and to shut down 00 program. Bond heads to Rome and finds out an organization led by Ernst Stavo Blofeld (Cristoph Waltz) is behind the bombing in some countries in the world.

The plot is entertaining, from the opening in Mexico, which i consider as one of the best in Bond movies, to high-speed chasing in Rome with supercars. It's all combined well with Craig's acting and beautiful places the director showed us. Rome, Africa, London, Austria, you name it! Though with that budget, could have better CGI. You can almost see through which  scenes are using the CGI or not. But that weakness is covered well with well-paced action, car chasing, to save the Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux) from the bad guys led by Mr. Hinx (Dave Bautista). Opening credit seems a little weird to me, as Sam Smith's "Writings on the Wall" is pictured with octopuses. Watch it and you'll know what i mean.

As for the acting, Daniel Craig's is no doubt better and better on every movie. He successfully nails it again as Bond and makes this movie a whole lot more to expect.
Christoph Waltz, the villain, deserves more screen time as his acting is world class! Even from those screen time, he acts beautifully on how he tells that "I own you, Bond".
The Bond girl,  Léa Seydoux, could have been better. Her acting was so bland in my opinion, showed no power like the previous Bond girl, like Eva Mendes, or even Rosamund Pike.
Dave Bautista is a good addition to the movie, after that surprisingly not bad act in "Guardians of the Galaxy".

Aston Martin DB10

Overall, plot is strong and the car chases sequences are amazing to watch. But with the lame CGI, the crew could do better than that. Still i consider this movie as a success one,so i recommend you to watch the movie.

As always, thanks for your support! Feel free to comment and stay tuned for another movie reviews!
