Movie Review: "Deadpool"

Movie Review: "Deadpool"

by Wilson Kosasih

"The Chimichangas are served!".

Nowhere to go this Valentine's Day? Deadpool will be the right choice, a multi-genre movie based on the same-titled comic book. After Ryan Reynolds starred a failed superhero movie around 2011 (let's not talk about that), he's here again with Deadpool and in my opinion. he nailed the role. (WARNING: THIS MOVIE IS NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN.)

Before he becomes Deadpool, Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) was an ex special force who now becomes a merc. He lived a happy life with his girlfriend, Vanessa (Morrena Baccarin). But those happy moments vanished as soon as the doctor diagnosed Wilson with cancer. An "agent" then offered Wilson to cure out his cancer. He decided to go with the offer, and Ajax (Ed Skrein), the leader of the secret corporation, changed Wilson's DNA to Mutant's DNA, which made him a Deadpool. Deadpool then wanted to take revenge against Ajax and to kill him.

The story is pretty standard, but it's not the main point of this movie, The main point(s) are those jokes that comes out of Deadpool's mouth and brilliant product replacements. But still, there are some weaknesses, like how standard the story, or on how few informations we get on those villains (origin stories).

Deadpool is made for Ryan Reynolds, i bet that no one can do better than him. His Deadpool character is so similar to the character and i think that his fans will totally love this movie. Although, i would love a longer running time, 108 minutes in total seems so little comparing on the movie's quality. Oh, and the fans will be delighted to see Stan Lee's cameo here (not going to spoil it), go and watch it yourself!

As all we know, this movie is full of violent scenes, but some parents still bring their children to watch this movie (Indonesia), since the theaters here don't really apply movie ratings like in America (movie was rated R-17). And, i don't know why, but most of the time, i'm the only one who understands the jokes. It's an irony i guess.

Overall, if you are a fan, you have to watch this movie. It's fun to watch, every jokes are funny, great acting quality by Ryan Reynolds, and this movie is perfect for Valentine's Day! Be sure to check out the post credit scenes too.
