Movie Review: "Goosebumps"

"It's been a long time since i've seen Jack Black performed that good." 

Goosebumps is a movie based on children's book of the same name by R.L.Stine. The story starts when Zach (Dylan Minnette) and his mother moves to Madison because of his mother's job. He then meets Hannah (Odeya Rush), but their introduction is cut short by Hannah's father, R.L.Stine (Jack Black). The next day, Zach is invited by Hannah to the unfinished carnival and they have fun there. As they go home, Hannah's father finds out about them and grounding Hannah. But as soon as Zach finds out something is wrong, he calls his friend Champ (Ryan Lee) to find out what is going on. They then break into Stine's house and accidentally drops and opens one of Stine's book and it releases a Snowman. After Stine successfully captures the Snowman, a new problem unfold when Slappy, one of Stine's creation tries to terrorize and destroys the city. and it's up to them to save Madison from destruction.

The movie is actually a combination of whole R.L.Stine's monsters in one movie, and it is quite a success considering it's not easy to combine that amount of monsters and make it a good movie. This movie has it all, from action to comedy, the director really does it well. Even it has some of jumpscares that actually made me startled from my sit. One thing i have to critic though, the effects in this movie aren't that good. 

And as i said earlier, this is one of Jack Black's best performance, on how he acts a strict parent, to how he cracks jokes that make me laugh, his performance was quite enjoyable. As for Dylan Minnette and Odeya Rush, i just feel that they were out of place in the movie. Their acting was just so-so that i weren't enjoying watching them.

Overall, this is a fun movie to watch with the whole family. It still lacks in some scenes, but the movie is still enjoyable. As always, thank you for your support, feel free to comment and have a nice day!
