Movie Review: "Suicide Squad"
Movie Review: "Suicide Squad"
by Wilson Kosasih
What if you assemble top class (crazy) villains as a team and tries to control them? The answer is, it won't be easy. Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), El Diablo (Jay Hernandez), and Slipknot (Adamn Beach) have to obey Amanda Waller (Viola Davis).
It goes straight from Superman's death on "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" (Click here for review) where America needs a new team to protect them from future harm. Amanda Waller then assembles Suicide Squad and will be led by Colonel Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman). Things go wrong so fast, as Enchantress (Cara Delevingne) escapes and revives his brother to help her rule the world. And it is up to the Suicide Squad to stop her.
If you guys don't know about Echantress, i'll tell you a bit about her. She is a witch who has been here for around 6000 years. June Moore, an archaeologist, comes across her grave and Echantress manages to control June's body. Well, with that introduction about Echantress, you guys sure know what Suicide Squad are against with. Normal humans (crazy) versus a witch, who can control everything. It's an utter nonsense, and DC has once again disappoint their fans, on how bad they presenting the story. They just don't learn on "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" failure on story. Plus, the horrendous visual effects on Echantress is something you can't unsee.
With bad story, some of the characters are on point. A credit given to Will Smith as Deadshot and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. They are both the main characters here, and they've done a very great job on their role. Jared Leto on the other hand, presented Joker so well, but his screen time wasn't supporting his great performance as Joker. And the rest of the team didn't do a good one comparing to them. Jai Courtney for example, how in the earth that he's still casted for his bad acting? He's bad Aussie accent (although he's Australian) makes him one of the worst actor i've ever seen.
Overall, this is not what DC fans are hoping for. Get ready to be disappointed and let Marvel take the win again this year. It's a waste of money and your time. Joker's minimal screen time makes me so disappointed over and over again, since i've been building this hype for Joker's appearance in this movie. And as the quote said on the poster, "Worst. Movie. Ever."
