Movie Review: "Now You See Me 2"
Movie Review: "Now You See Me 2"
by Wilson Kosasih
"Now You See Me 2" is a sequel from the same title from 2013. The first movie was one exceptional movie with countless amazing magic tricks.
Sequel follows two years after "The Four Horsemen" stole Arthur Tessler (Michael Caine)'s money and he plans to take the revenge against "The Four Horsemen", who are in hiding. Meanwhile, Thaddeus Bradley (Morgan Freeman) got thrown up to jail by Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo) after he got framed. "The Four Horsemen" finally show up themselves on a show, but their show got hijacked by Walter (Daniel Radcliffe) and they got moved to Macau. Walter forces them to steal a data-mining device for him.
"The Four Horsemen": J. Daniel Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg), Jack Wilder (Dave Franco), Lula (Lizzy Caplan), Merritt Mc Kinney (Woody Harrelson).
First of all, this movie is one of a bad mess, bad narrative, bad acting (especially Daniel Radcliffe), visual effects are so horrible, story is so simple and predictable. It's like they are using the same formula for the second movie, which is so 2013, and won't make it with today's standard. Once again, Hollywood fails us again and disappoints the viewers with those brilliant actors but crap movies.
Daniel Radcliffe's acting is so horrendous that he couldn't nail any role after the success of Harry Potter series. He has played countless of movies after that movie, but none of them were considered a success. New characters don't help the movie in any way either, like Jay Chou, his acting is as bad as Daniel's. In fact, he should stop acting in Hollywood. The magic tricks in this movie is quite good, but not better than the first movie.
Overall, the first movie is much better than the sequel itself. But if you guys love to watch amazing magic tricks, you guys could stand watching this movie.
