Movie Review: "Central Intelligence"

Movie Review: "Central Intelligence"

by Wilson Kosasih

Truthfully, I thought that this movie will fail miserably after I watched that horrible trailer. But, I was wrong. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Kevin Hart are the most solid comedy duo I’ve ever seen. And ladies and gents, this is the review of “Central Intelligence”.

On 1996 Central High School graduation day, Robert Weihrdict (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) is humiliated by Trevor (Jason Bateman) and his friends in front of the people. Everyone is laughing at him, except Calvin “The Golden Jet” Joyner (Kevin Hart) saves him from further humiliation. 20 years later, Robert contacts “name” from Facebook, under the name of Bob Stone, to hang out and later asks for “name”’s help for something. Turns out, Calvin “The Golden Jet” Joyner is involved in much bigger thing than he imagined. Bob turns out to be a CIA agent and he desperately needs his help.

Okay, first of all, “The Rock”’s awful CGI is a pain in the eye to see. You’ll probably know if you watched the trailer. But, the most important thing is, “The Rock” has been amazing in this movie. He is like a different person here, not like his previous movies, he’s more like a crazy, funny, and silly. That’s not bad, since it turns out really well for him, plus he got an interesting chemistry with Kevin Hart. Kevin Hart, however, still as funny as he could ever be. He gets better and better than his awfully bad  “Get Along” movies (Yes, two of them).

The story, feels too simple and irrelevant. It feels right though, since this is a comedy, not action or thriller. It’s still fun, but with those clichés, this movie clearly focuses on the comedies, rather than story.  This movie has quite funny one-liner too, and some reference to the movies i never watched before.

Overall, if you guys are a fan of either Kevin Hart or "The Rock", this is absolutely the right movie for you. They both are funny and crazy at the same time, one of the best comedy duo yet.

As always, thanks for your support! Feel free to comment and stay tuned for another reviews!
